Anger Games 6 Group Reviews: Group M

Overview:

If you wanted to place a bet on whether there would be a group that pulls out due to numbers or interest between now and the tournament, this would be the group. Both Test and NC. barely have 7 man teams and neither team has performed particularly well in tournament settings. Likely, the top two teams will fight it out over who goes through and who goes to Redemption.

Review

Paper Numbers and Raifaisen in particular are known for their MJD battleship plays, so look out for anything with 5 or so mids, be it a Vindicator or a Bhaalgorn to jump your back lines potentially. An interesting team with some solid performances but never cracking the top group.

Strengths

They are typically on meta with their comps even if not the perfect fits or ship selection and can execute well with some surprises thrown in

Weaknesses

They live and die by battleship piloting, if you can control their heavy core they’ll struggle in the match

Ban Targets

Take out some of the core jumping battleship threats to remove their awkward fight compositions.

Review

This Deepwater team has performed historically quite well and should definitely make a run at winning this group.

Strengths

They like big brawling heavy armor comps and can typically execute them well

Weaknesses

Their theory is a little light overall, you often know what to expect out of this team

Ban Targets

Focus here on limiting their main battleship cores with a bit of focus on the Leshak and RHML platforms.

Review

I respect Soldarius for continuing to put teams together for tournaments and it’s good to see Test still forming a team for this event. I hope they can pull something together but realistically they are fighting with NC. for last.

Strengths

Continuing to show up

Weaknesses

Their theory and execution are both on the weaker end of the scale

Ban Targets

Hard to go with anything non standard for them

Review

It’s sad to see NC. after doing so well in AT16 disappear off the map (RIP Bap/Jose/DHB and co) much similarly to how they’ve diminished on TQ as well. Good for this group to get together for a tournament match, but it’s missing the key players that performed so well and brought so much knowledge.

Strengths

Being better than Test??

Weaknesses

Not being better than Test??

Ban Targets

I would say to ban out rushes since this core has favored them historically, but its hard to say with such a small team.
